Summerfest downtown after all
It`ll be a bit smaller than it would have been and it`ll be next to a construction site, but Summerfest will be downtown.
Blatant vandalism

Day 1 Winnipeg, Mb.- Silverado’s
I remember this place as The Diamond, a fun place to play always
since “back in the day”. Since it’s our first day with the band, Jack
the stage tech and I decided to load-in a couple hours early and get
the bands’ rental backline sorted. Thanks to the great guys at Long &
McQuade Edmonton everything was in shape and sounding good. Pretty
good turn out for a school night, including my favourite Winnipeg
thing: ROCK ‘N ROLL GIRLS! Edwin missed sound check so it took a
couple tunes to settle in, but a great 1st show! Crowd loved the
songs and I think it’s really cool the guys do one from each of their
respective former bands. Loooooong drive day to Cold Lake tomorrow
for the show on Saturday!
Day 2 & 3-Travel and Cold Lake, Ab
Wanted to shoot myself in the face after we drove Edmonton to
Winnipeg for the first show and then turning around and heading to
Cold Lake. Day started with a broken battery terminal so we were 2
hours late leaving the ‘Peg. North of Lloydminister we hit a large
flake freak snowstorm which was quite the wakeup call for us since we
were all brain dead after 12 hours in the van. Jack, our stage tech,
was driving and he kicked butt! We made it!
Day of show, Cold Lake, got the oil changed in the van and headed to
soundcheck with the guys. Everyone made it today (and ALMOST on time)
for check so we spent some time getting the stage sound right. Show
went great, band was really good. Audience was mostly younger but we
managed to catch their attention! Now a drive to Calgary with an
evening off on Sunday!
West underway & 4 in a row…
When I think back to the Tea Party memories, you never remember how much time you spend travelling by plane, train, tour bus, or in Crash Karma’s first tour case; a 15 passenger van. We’ve travelled more hours in the van than I’ve gotten to sleep so far on this run!
2 nights ago in Calgary was a turning point of sorts for the band: our first dangerous crowd surfing moment, the singing of the audience back to the band (which means they’re picking up the record!), and the musical telepathy you get when performing often with your ”gang” ~~ All is looking real good!
One thing I’d like to express my dismay over is a bit of a tabu subject for me. I DO NOT like to bad talk any bands, but if you’re going to call yourself a band; plug in your instruments, and turn off the CD your playing along to….We did have a very weird billing along with a “pop” band called: Strereos~~the kids loved them, but from side stage, you couldn’t hear ANYTHING coming from their amps, but there were a LOT of computers with track all over them…that’s called acting, NOT playing in a band….Okay, I’ll stop.
In Edmonton tonight, for the 1st of 4 in a row, should be jammed, from what I’m hearing…Details on that tomorrow!
Our video for the second single “Fight” in nearing completion~~very different, dark, and pretty wicked I think…

Round 2: Albums you should listen to
2 of my favorite songwriters are in Sebaboh, Lou Barlow (original bassist for Dinosaur Jr.) and Jason Loewenstein. Sebadoh were low-fi pioneers in the early 90′s and fit in nicely with the nirvana’s of the world. This album I bought in 1994 and there haven’t been too many weeks since I bought it that I haven’t given the disc a listen.
To me, this was their finest work. A lot of previous Sebadoh releases we’re too unfocussed for me. They’d go from folk to screamo to stoner metal. This album was their “nevermind”. Every song was well written, had great hooks and lyrically excellent. Any time you’re looking for a new way to say “I love you” or “I miss you”, give BakeSale a listen and you learn a new line or two. If you can’t find the CD, e-mail Sub-Pop records and demand a copy. Stand-out tracks are “Careful” and “Drama Mine”.
