Windsor is standing behind private members bills calling on Ottawa to stiffen the penalties given to animal abusers.

City council has passed a motion calling on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to lobby in favour.

Windsor-Tecumseh MP Joe Comartin has introduced one of the bills.
