Thames Towers In Chatham Could Become Condos
Jun 18 2010 | 2 years ago | Add Comment

The owner of the Thames Towers in Chatham wants to covert the apartments to condos. The two, ten-storey buildings on Grand Ave West each hold 89 units. Now, the owner, Falom Incorporated, wants to convert the units to condos. The move requires an exemption from a section of the municipal planning act and administration is recommending an approval by council at its planning meeting Monday. There is legislation that protects current tenants from losing their homes in the conversion. Tenants have security of tenure until they decide to move. And they must be given the right of first refusal when another party offers to purchase their unit.
