A fire at the Retro Suites Hotel in downtown Chatham has caused about $500,000 in damage. Assistant Fire Chief Ray Stone says 17 firefighters from Chatham stations 1 and 2 responded at about 11:30 last night. He says most of the damage is to the rear exterior of the building, with smoke and water damage inside. Fire and police investigators are working together to determine a cause. Stone says the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been called in.
