It’s a snow day for Windsor Essex students.

School officials at the Greater Essex County District School Board, the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire de district des ecoles catholiques du Sud-Quest and Conseil scolaire Viamonde have closed all schools for the day because of the winter storm.

Officials decided to cancel bus service late last night in anticipation of the storm.

All St.Clair College campuses in Windsor and Chatham are closed but the University of Windsor remains open.

A number of child care programs are also closed including Chez Nous in the city of Windsor.  Discovery Childcare Program in Leamington and Kingsville are closed.  Tilbury Tots Early Learning Centre child care program at Tilbury Area Public School, along with programs in Chatham, Tilbury, Stoney Point and Wheatley are also closed but the main site is still open.  Leamington Montessori Daycare has closed down for the day.

South Essex Community Council in Leamington, Kingsville and Windsor has cancelled programs, as has the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex.

Windsor police also closed Riverside Drive between Riverdale and Green Park because of high winds and drifting snow.  A snow plow got stuck there last night.  Otherwise, police say traffic is slow but moving.
