Around 1000 health sciences students will be starting the school year with brand new laboratories .

The Centre for Applied Health Sciences at St. Clair College was officially open Friday.  The $32 million building offers students 100,000 square feet of labs and simulation rooms.

“This is going to allow our students to be able to train in a way that most other students do not have that facility or that capability of doing,” says Chair of the School of Health Sciences Dr. Ken Blanchette .

The new building also offers three new programs at the College; Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Respiratory Therapy and Cardiovascular Technology.  Blanchette says the new programs are already in high demand with over 200 students applying for each and only 28 spots available.

The building was funded in part by the Provincial and Federal governments.
