Students at Central Public School in Windsor have a better understanding of the environment, thanks to a visit by a paralympic gold medalist.
Swimmer Andrew Haley talked to students this week about setting goals in life. Having also beat lung cancer as a youngster, he stressed the importance of air quality.

“It’s not going to be forever that we’re going to have good, clean air to breathe,” says Haley. “So the sooner we do something about it, the better.”

Grade 8 student Rachel Katzman found the presentation informative. “I didn’t really know about smog at all. I just thought it was just a little bit of pollution,” says Katzman. “I didn’t know that it could be five tonnes per car.”

Central Public School is a silver rated eco-school. Dr. David Suzuki Public School in Windsor has the highest ranking in the country, rated platinum.
