The Search For Savings

The City of Windsor is committing $75,000 to develop a business plan for an alternative service delivery.

The city will look into consolidating IT, finance and HR among the city, police, Enwin, the library and transit. Project lead Michael Mueller believes the city could find significant savings.

“Not saying that one organization would own these back offices but all of the ABC’s and the City would own the back office.” says Mueller.  ”If we change some of the processes that we are now using, if we change and use more automation, if we use fewer ERP systems we believe that there could be potential savings.”

CAO Helga Reidel says this would be a massive change for the city that would take a while to implement.

Council also decided to defer discussions on outsourcing the 211/311 call-centre for another year.
