The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is officially taking over the Capitol Theatre in September.
Windsor City Council approved the lease agreement that includes the completion of $1.8 million in capital work and continued maintenance costs.
President of the WSO Barb Kuker says they will need some extra funding to make it through the move. “Our cash flow at this time of year is very low because the season tickets are out by the end of January, February and since we couldn’t get this out now we’re sitting with a cash flow problem. But now that we know this it will get out and hopefully our subscribers will buy the tickets right away and then we’ll be ok.”
Kuker says the new agreement gives the orchestra greater stability and more convenient show times. The facility will still be available for rent for other community groups as part of the agreement with the City of Windsor.
