Mobile Meat Canner Back
Apr 30 2012 | 3 weeks ago | Add Comment

The mobile meat canner is back in Leamington this week.

The Mennonite Central Committee along with volunteers from churches and schools plan to can 38,000 pounds of chicken to send to charitable organizations around the world. Volunteers will cook, fill, clean and label cans for five days at the Heinz Grading Station.

“The interesting and good thing about this project s a lot of it could have been automated years ago but because it is such an awesome project and it really pulls the community together it’s just done by hand and it’s just a wonderful experience,” says committee member Tina Quiring.

This is the 14th year the mobile canner has come to Leamington.
