Ok. So every year Maxim gets everyone revved about their top 100 hottest girls list. And every year I can pretty much guess who made the top 5… or even 10 for that matter. This year their first pick came right outta left field! Not sure why, but Katy Perry ranked as the hottest on their list. She’s beautiful, spunky and has sex appeal that isn’t trashy but there’s about 10 other gals I woulda guessed would beat her outta that top spot. Agree with me on this? Maybe Maxim’s just trying to keep everyone on their toes. Anyway… Here’s the top 10 and the link to view ALL the lovely ladies who made the cut!
#1.) KATY PERRY
#2.) BROOKLYN DECKER (“Sports Illustrated” cover gal)
#3.) ZOE SALDANA
#4.) BLAKE LIVELY
#5.) MEGAN FOX
#6.) RIHANNA
#7.) ELISABETTA CANALIS
#8.) OLIVIA MUNN
#9.) KIM KARDASHIAN
#10.) MARISA MILLER

Hey hey my first blog! So I figured I’d kick it off with something somewhat cool. Music albums. It’s my top influential albums. This is a personal list, hense the fact that some may make absolutely NO sense to some people. But isn’t that what music’s about? Some Diversity? If you see anything here you haven’t heard give it a listen. It hits everyone differently. Anyway… these are the ones that stand out in my mind and have shaped me into becoming the well adjusted person I am today… haha.
Ten Influential Albums (in no particular order and is subject to change)
Alanis Morissette – Jagged Little Pill (1995)
Kind of an obsession really. I really started getting into music and it was a damn good time to do so. Alanis showed her angry side and broke all the rules when it came to any female artist. Her writing was great, the melody aggressive and her mediocre yet definitive voice set the tone for alternative girlies for years to come. How could you NOT dig her?
No Doubt – Tragic Kingdom (1995)
I heart this band. Gwen steps on the scene at age 26 with this wicked style and gave the mainstream a taste of ska. Gwen alone can’t work it (in my opinion) but with her boys she shows that not only can a band survive damn near everything (lead singers death, countless record rejections, and a relationship gone arye)… they can be successful at it too. She wrote the tunes from her heart and props to Tony (bassist) for stickin’ it out and dealing with the embarassment of being ‘the dick that broke her heart.’ Tragic Kingdom was a CD I listened to from beginning to end. I still blare ‘Sixteen’ from my car, singing at the top of my lungs… just like I did on my 16th birthday
Streetlight Manifesto – Everything Goes Numb (2002)
Hear comes Thom (Catch22) with a new band but the same captivating lyrics that hooked even the biggest ska hater. Judging by the lyrics, the entire album was written as a helping hand to a friend who was in a dark place. Instead of digging a deeper hole of dispair, the album offers hope in a world we sometimes view as hopeless. This showing that the very best gift in life can be music. Streetlight Manifesto very well could have saved some lives with this record.
Oasis – Definitely Maybe (1994)
A classic. I can still remember singing the tunes from this album with friends. The songs have hit different generations, and can be heard at just about EVERY bonfire or house party in the world. Seriously.. it’s contagious and the Gallagher brothers continue to show great talent to this day… if only they could both handle being in the same room together.
Dave Matthews Band – Crush
Could have very well been the first time I ever truly felt music flow through my soul. My first introduction to true R&B… it led me to howlin’ wolf and muddy waters later on in life. It still gives me chills listening to it.
Sublime – Self Titled
I know I know… not the original but think about it… I was introduced to these guys with this album, making my way to the early stuff! Bradley Nowell (call like you want) is a legend. I’ve never seen someone put so much emotion into every bit of live recording. The album came out at a time when music influenced me majorly, and thank god for Sublime to add that reggae flava. It never gets old and reminds me of summmmma’timmmme with Nimeck
Mad Caddies – In the Key of Eh – Live (2004)
I was there. Seriously. March 17th 2004 at the Opera House in Toronto with my bud Scottie Croft. A great show. I miss crowd surfing!
Green Day – Dookie (1994)
Best. Green Day album. EVER. Forget American Idiot. It was great n’ all… but nothing can compare to the awesomeness that was Dookie. Nothing can replace my middle school yrs either.
Flogging Molly – Drunken Lullaby’s
You’ve heard them. And chances are, they played a HUGE role in the soundtrack to you’re drunken March 17th shinanigans. This album was definitely one of their best and got me hooked to a new sound. Not only do they show great talent and energy… they bring to life that great Celtic sound and keep the crowds moving at ALL their shows. This may be the reason why their shows are always a sell out in Detroit
The Stray Cats – Best Of
Okay I’m a total fan of the rockabilly sound, growing up I’d blast their tunes from my tape deck player til’ it wore out. Maybe I would have picked another album other than the best of… but that’s not what I was introduced to initially that got me into the sound of Brian Seitzers guitar. This band is one of the reasons I wanted to learn to play bass.
HONORABLE MENTIONS-
Eve 6 – Horrorscope
Bushx – sixteen stone
Pearl Jam – Ten
Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
