Highway 3: Next Phase
While work is set to get underway on Highway 3 near Walker Rd. in Windsor, plans are in the works to start expansion of the highway between Essex and Kingsville.
Ministry of Transportation spokeswoman Liane Fisher says a consultant will be hired soon to start work on designs to expand the highway from Victoria Rd. to Division Rd. “Once retained, the consultant will complete preliminary designs, public consultations and environmental assessment work.” That’s expected to start this summer.
The third phase of the expansion project is expected to be the most expensive but Fisher says there’s no cost estimate available.
The final stretch of highway between County Road 34 and Walker Rd will see lane closures over the coming months. It’s expected to be completed by early fall.
